Immediate Response Service
The spanish National Plan for Preventive Conservation deals with different technical subjects we want to develop further by implementing practical actions that help avoid or reduce to a minimum the continuous degradation and losses in our artistic heritage. This is lately becoming more serious due to the current budget cuts in the spanish public administration.
Our first experience on preventive conservation dates back to 1992, when the Preventive Conservation Service for the artistic elements in Linares Palace (House of the Casa de América Foundation) was implemented. Up to date this service has guaranteed the extraordinary conservation status of its rich artistic heritage and has been a source of inspiration for other preventive conservation services in institutional buildings.
The service we currently offer is aimed at those people responsible for safeguarding or maintaining the premises of singular buildings. This Immediate Response Service intends to provide the people in charge of safeguarding these buildings and artistic collections with a professional taskforce specialized in artistic crafts and conservation of heritage who can offer a service guarantee, professionalism and an immediate response. It has been specifically created to perform special works with a low cost, preventing the damage that the ordinary use of a building causes to its works of art (paintings, sculptures, etc.), decorative elements (i.e. gilding, stucco works) and functional elements (doors, windows, furniture, etc.)
This service is customized, analysing the specific needs of each customer. It has to be contracted for a minimum of 50 hours, each one priced at €30, including handwork, infrastructure, materials, insurance and all taxes except V.A.T.
Urgent calls have an immediate attention: in the following 24 hours after receiving them. Ordinary calls are attended in the following 5 days.
Following every work carried out a report of the action is delivered, complete with photographic material of the intervention. All these actions are also compiled on a document delivered at the end of the year.
The suggestions on safeguard and preventive conservation are submitted to the responsible for the
maintenance of the building on the yearly report.
Our commitment with the conservation of the artistic heritage has led us to develop different products and services to improve it.
IMMEDIATE RESPONSE SERVICE - ARTISTIC CRAFTS AND RESTORATION
Following our efforts in this direction, we have developed a training course for the cleaning staff working in singular buildings that contain artistic collections.
This pioneering course allows cleaning staff carrying out their duties in contact with works of art to obtain a specific qualification and to be provided with basic knowledge on what they can do and what they have to avoid.
